Conference dinner

The conference dinner took place in the re-made traditional Cretan village of Arolithos on Wednesday, 12 October. Arolithos is 15 minutes drive from the conference venue and all registered participants were transferred there by bus.

Arolithos is a constructed venue, which was built with collected materials from abandoned villages of Crete, with the objective of maintaining the Cretan tradition and culture and making it known to visitors and younger generations. It is a family-run business which operates since 1988. Within the village, we will experience a trip back in time, enjoy the views of Heraklion from above, and then have a meal of traditional dishes made of local products (from farm to fork), most of which are cultivated in the village's gardens. The venue operates in a very sustainable manner when it comes to food waste. All untouched food that is left is going to be given to refugee homes. All food waste is going to be used as animal feed for the goats and poultry that are maintained on the village farm.
