Darwin Convention Centre

Located on the spectacular Darwin Harbour, the world class Darwin Convention Centre is an iconic landmark in the tropical harbour city of the Northern Territory. Set within the lush tropical setting of the Darwin Waterfront Precinct, the Darwin Convention Centre is a stunning destination.

Getting there

The Darwin Convention Centre is located along the Darwin Waterfront, and conveninently close to the city centre (approx. 1 km). Depending on where you are staying, you can reach the Convention Centre by walking, public transport (bus), Taxi or Uber. You can also consider renting a bike, as Darwin is a relatively bike-friendly city.

To get from Darwin Airport to the Darwin Convention Centre, there are several transport options you can consider, each with varying levels of convenience and cost.

1. Taxi or Rideshare (Uber/ODrive):

Duration: 15–20 minutes (depending on traffic)

Cost: Approx. $25–$40 AUD, depending on traffic and time of day.

How: You can book a taxi directly at the taxi rank outside the airport. For rideshares, you can book an Uber or ODrive through their respective apps. The pickup points for these services are usually located near the taxi rank.

2. Car (Rental Car):

Duration: 15–20 minutes (similar to taxi time).

Cost: Rental costs vary, but expect to pay approximately $40–$80 AUD per day, plus petrol and insurance.

How: You can rent a car directly at the airport. Darwin Airport has several car rental agencies available.

3. Public Transport:

Duration: Around 30–40 minutes, depending on transfers and waiting times.

Cost: $4–$6 AUD for a one-way adult fare. How: Bus: You can catch a bus from Darwin Airport to the city centre.

The bus stop is located just outside the terminal. Route: The most common route is the Airport Bus (Route 3 or Route 6), which takes you to the city. From there, you may need to transfer to another bus or walk to the Convention Centre, which is located close to the waterfront. You might have to walk for about 5–10 minutes from the bus stop to the Convention Centre, depending on the bus route you take.

4. Shuttle: Duration: 20–30 minutes. Cost: Approx. $20–$30 AUD per person. How: Some hotels near the Convention Centre offer shuttle services from the airport, so you can check with your hotel if this is available. Alternatively, you can look into pre-booked airport shuttle services that drop passengers off at key locations in the city.
